Alan Cross

Alan Cross's career in rock radio spans a quarter-century and includes a 14-year stint as an announcer with 102.1 the Edge in Toronto and a three-year run as program director of Y108 in Hamilton. In January 2004, he returned to the Edge as PD. He was named PD of the Year at Canadian Music Week in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Alan's acclaimed weekly rock documentary program, The Ongoing History of New Music, debuted in February 1993 and since then, there have been more than 585 episodes, all researched, written and produced by Alan. The show is now heard on close to a dozen stations across Canada and has spun off four books, daily podcasts and more than a dozen CD compilations. His current audio book, The Alan Cross Guide to Alternative Rock, Volume 1, has been a strong seller since it was released in October 2007. Volume 2 was released in March 2008.

Over the years, Alan has produced in-flight audio programming for Air Canada, wrote trivia questions for the Microsoft Network, hosted a variety of TV shows, and appeared as a guest on various TV shows, including The Hour, MTV, The National, MuchMusic and many others. He also writes articles for both newspapers and magazines and is routinely involved in regulatory matters with Corus as part of his role as program director at 102.1 the Edge.
